12th month of Hijri year 1448

Dhul-Hijjah 1448 · ذو الحجة

Dhul-Hijjah is the twelfth and final month of the Hijri year, and the one in which the calendar becomes a journey: millions of pilgrims gather in Mecca for Hajj in its first ten days. In 1448 the pilgrimage is expected to begin on 14 May 2027.

The 9th of the month is the Day of Arafah — the heart of Hajj, and for those not on pilgrimage, a recommended fast described as expiating the sins of the year before and the year after. The 10th brings Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, expected on 16 May 2027.
